Christmas is coming...

Grow A Tenner Appeal

When the Village Stores opened in 2010, building costs were higher than expected and a loan had to be taken out to cover running costs. Although the shop is a real success, we are still struggling to repay this loan and have set up an appeal with Local Giving, a not-for-profit organisation that helps local charities and community groups to raise funds. Our target is £10,000 by the end of 2013. The first £10 of every donation made will be matched by Local Giving, and with tax relief this becomes £22. £500,000 of government money has been set aside for the scheme – but it is running out fast! If you would like to help the Village Stores to secure a healthy future please visit:

Any donation would be hugely appreciated. Thank you. Please note that the option to donate monthly will become available from Friday 7th December.

Extra Loyalty Card Points

Our new Loyalty Card scheme is proving very popular. If you don't yet have a card, please ask for one in store. Throughout December we are giving 5 extra points for every bottle of wine sold and 10 extra points for every bottle of spirit. A great reason to stock up!

Christmas Morning Breakfast Pack

This year we're taking care of Christmas Day breakfast with a special limited-edition Breakfast Pack. The packs can be collected in store on 24th December or delivered within the village in a gift bag (at a time of your choice, up to 4pm). Each pack will contain:

6 Croissants
6 Local Eggs
6 Local Ray Park Sausages
Packet of Local Ray Park Bacon
Jar of Brightwell Honey
Loaf of Local Granary Bread
Carton of Princes Orange Juice (1 litre)
Box of Kellogg's Cornflakes (500 g)
1 Pint of Semi-Skimmed Milk

Just 30 packs will be available at a cost of £18 each, a saving of £4.50 on the regular cost of the items. To order please email bcscvs@btconnect.com (your order will be acknowledged) or pop into the Stores and speak to Steph or Margot. Payment will be due by 16th December.

 Village Stores Newsletter

Was your newsletter delivered through your letter box, rather than by email? To save printing costs and volunteer time (there are still around 250 houses we deliver to by hand), please send your email address, if you have one, to bcscvs@btconnect.com and we will add you to our list.

Fruit & Veg!

Fresh fruit and veg are bursting into the shop every Wednesday and Friday. Carrots, cauliflowers, broccoli, broad beans, green cabbage, beetroot, potatoes and leeks fill the displays together with bananas, oranges, and seasonal fruits like strawberries, blackcurrants and raspberries. The more you shop, the more variety we can stock. It’s a great way of getting your 5 a day without leaving the village! Look out too for some excellent local plants.

While you're here don't forget you can refill your olive oil bottles (£4.00 for 500ml) and also refill Ecover washing and laundry liquid bottles.

The Blog is Back!

While the sun battles with the rain, the Village Stores are going from strength to strength. Did you know that our local products now include meat, soup, pizza, yoghurt, eggs, vegetables, bread, honey and wine?

New in stock are delicious Union hand-roasted coffees and wonderful Ramsbury Teas, with Darjeeling and Earl Grey blends alongside herbal flavours Jasmine, Camomile and Berry Mix. Look out too for our bright new range of wrapping papers.

We have speciality breads every day and a wider selection on Saturdays with croissants and pastries. Come early - they’re popular!
