Important Post Office Meeting

We need your views!

Do you use the Post Office in Brightwell cum Sotwell?
Would you use a Post Office Local counter in the Village Stores?

The Post Office will soon be closing its branch in the Stewart Room. No decisions have yet been made about the future of a Post Office in Brightwell cum Sotwell.

The Village Stores has been offered a contract to run a Post Office Local counter within the shop. But, as well as benefits, there are many challenges in accepting this contract, including staffing.

Please come to the open meeting at the Village Hall on Tuesday 24th November at 7.30pm. The implications will be explained and two representatives from the Post Office will be answering questions.

This will be the last public opportunity to give your opinions on this very important decision for the village. We need to hear what you think!

Autumn Arrivals

We hope you've had a good summer. As the best, crisp days of autumn arrive, we have wonderful apples and pears on sale that have been grown in the village. Every Tuesday fresh Cornish pasties are delivered, stocked by special recommendation from one of our customers. Vegetable pasties are also available - both are absolutely delicious!

Our new range of gifts is now on display. You'll find bags, cushions, mugs, purses, mirrors and soft toys - perfect presents for all ages.

Our very own delicious Seville Orange Marmalade is now on sale, specially made for us in the village by Alison Hedges. Jars are £3.25 each and are disappearing fast!

Shopping Basket Success!

Congratulations to Oscar, the winner of our £5 voucher at the Village Fete on Saturday! He was closest to guessing that buying the products in our shopping basket from the Village Stores would have been cheaper than Waitrose (by £4.38) and cheaper than Tesco (by 30p). Another excellent reason to shop in Brightwell-cum-Sotwell!

Our Village Stores basket would have cost £23.68 and was compared with online prices for Waitrose and Tesco. It contained:
4 British chicken breasts (skinned and boneless) 685g
Tims Greek Style natural yoghurt, 500g
British mince beef, 460g
Taylors Lazy Sunday coffee, 227g
4 rolls Andrex toilet paper
Taylors of Harrogate Yorkshire tea (80 bags)
6 large free range eggs
Heinz Baked Beans, 415g
Kelloggs Corn Flakes, 500g

wanting to offer for a long time and we hope it will be really popular. So come and pick up a paper whenever you feel like it! All existing orders will be unaffected.
